ZAGREB, 1 May (Hina) – The Croatian Rural Tourism Association (URTH) on Tuesday launched the first national rural tourism portal, “idemonaselo.hr”, which features 1,600 service providers offering niche forms of tourism and around 200 attractions in rural areas across the country.

The aim of the portal, which also serves as a directory for rural tourism, is to promote rural tourism more effectively, covering a wide range of tourism experiences, including agritourism, mountain tourism, adventure tourism, hunting, fishing, equestrian tourism and more, said URTH President Aleksandra Kuratko Pani.

The portal provides a wealth of information about rural destinations. Among the service providers are family farms, tasting rooms, restaurants, spas, museums and manors, as well as events, cycling trails and more.

Service providers will have free access to the portal until 1 July this year, after which user packages will be introduced.

The funds raised from these packages, donations and other sources will be used for the portal’s maintenance and further development of the association’s activities.

The total cost of developing and maintaining the portal, conducting research and other related activities is estimated at €100,000 over two years, with more than €40,000 contributed by the ministries of tourism and agriculture and the Croatian National Tourist Board.

Data on the offerings and service providers was collected in collaboration with teachers and students from the Križevci Polytechnic, through research, fieldwork and social media monitoring.

The URTH signed agreements with the Križevci Polytechnic and the Zagreb Faculty of Economics on Tuesday to further develop and enhance the portal and the rural tourism offering.
