Global travel site Big 7 Travel has just revealed its list of the 25 Best Summer Food Festivals in Europe, offering delicious inspiration for food lovers planning a summer escape.

Among the standout picks, Croatia’s very own Istrian Pasta Festival in Žminj has earned a spot in the Top 10, coming in at number nine.

Held at the start of July in the charming village of Žminj, nestled behind an old citadel, the Istrian Pasta Festival is a celebration of tradition, taste, and Istrian culinary heritage. Locals and tourists alike gather to sample a wide range of homemade pastas – from classic favourites to creative twists.

Festival-goers can indulge in truffle pasta, fuži with pršut and rocket, makaruni with rich Istrian beef sauce, ravioli filled with shrimp and zucchini, ravioli with porcini mushrooms in parmesan cream, and even sweet options like gnocchi with chocolate.

But the festival is not just about eating. Visitors also have the chance to roll up their sleeves and get involved, with pasta-making workshops showcasing traditional Istrian techniques. Cooking shows keep the crowds entertained, and younger guests are catered for with engaging children’s activities and workshops.

Big 7 Travel curated the list by combining insights from its travel team and feedback from readers, considering must-try dishes, atmosphere, location, and overall popularity.

Other festivals to make the Top 10 include the Sardine Festival in Portugal, Galway International Oyster and Seafood Festival in Ireland, and Italy’s Napoli Pizza Village Festival.
