A major milestone in Croatian military aviation was marked this weekend as the Croatian Air Force publicly showcased its complete squadron of 12 Rafale multirole fighter jets for the first time at the AIRVG2025 air show in Velika Gorica.
Held at the site of the old Pleso airport terminal, the event drew thousands of spectators who witnessed a spectacular tactical demonstration by two Rafale jets, underscoring the strength and readiness of Croatia’s modernised air fleet.
Defence Minister Ivan Anušić, representing the Prime Minister, highlighted the significance of the occasion.
“This is the first time we are symbolically presenting the entire Croatian Rafale squadron to the public,” he said. He noted the importance of maintaining air force capability, which he described as strategically vital for national defence.

He also stated that by maintaining the capabilities of the Air Force, Croatia has shown that it is much stronger, more powerful and more prepared for all challenges.
General Michael Križanec, Commander of the Croatian Air Force, emphasised the importance of NATO cooperation, while Brigadier Mario Pleša reflected on the technological leap from MiG-21s to Rafales over the past decade.
