The island of Cres is now home to The Isolano, Croatia’s first Marriott hotel located on an island and the country’s first under the luxury Autograph Collection brand.
Officially opened on Thursday, this five-star boutique hotel blends luxury with local heritage.
The Isolano features 49 rooms, two heated outdoor pools, a beach bar, wellness and spa centre, event space, and several dining spots.

The €17 million investment was led by Nikola Avram, a hospitality expert and Cres native.
“We wanted to create a hotel that tells the story of Cres—its stone, traditions and untouched beauty—while meeting global luxury standards,” Avram said at the opening.

The design, overseen by renowned designer Kristina Zanić, uses authentic materials like Brač stone and showcases the island’s Venetian heritage.

Around 95% of the hotel’s ingredients are sourced locally, with a strong focus on sustainability and supporting the local community.

Marriott VP Pankaj Birla attended the ceremony, alongside Croatian tourism officials who praised the project’s role in boosting year-round tourism and bringing high-end investment to the islands.

The Isolano is now part of a global network of over 300 Autograph Collection hotels in 50 countries.
