Police in Split acted swiftly today following reports of a mass altercation between Torcida and Bad Blue Boys in the Pujanke district, just hours before the highly anticipated derby between Hajduk Split and Dinamo Zagreb at Poljud Stadium.
The Split-Dalmatia County Police Department confirmed that a larger group of individuals were involved in the incident. Officers quickly arrived at the scene, preventing further escalation and restoring public order.
More than 100 people have been detained and taken to police stations for questioning, Večernji list reports.
Criminal investigations are currently underway, and authorities are still searching for additional participants involved in the clash. Several individuals required medical attention following the incident.
According to eyewitnesses, around 50 members of Dinamo’s supporter group, the Bad Blue Boys, arrived in Pujanke wearing masks. A confrontation ensued, and bystanders claim the visiting fans from Zagreb came off worse in the clash.
The match comes at a crucial time in the Croatian football season, with the SuperSport HNL delivering one of its most exciting title battles in recent years.
With only four rounds remaining in the 2024/25 campaign, just one point separates the top three sides. Rijeka and Hajduk Split are currently tied at the top with 56 points, while Dinamo Zagreb trails closely behind on 55.
The match, one of the most heated rivalries in Croatian football, has been classified as a high-risk event.
