SPLIT, 21 May 2025 – A new digital initiative to help keep tourists and locals safe during the busy summer months has officially launched today in Split.

The project, titled ‘Safe in Dalmatia’, is a web-based application developed to provide quick and reliable safety information across Split-Dalmatia County.

The platform aims to enhance accessibility to essential contacts and emergency services during the tourist season.

The digital guide offers users easy access to important contact details and information about emergency services including the police, fire brigade, emergency medical services, mountain rescue (HGSS), civil protection, and other relevant authorities.

Speaking at the launch, County Prefect Blaženko Boban highlighted the importance of safety as a foundation for the region’s tourism sector.

“This is an extremely important project. Safety in Dalmatia is now one of the key models for attracting tourists, and tourism remains our most significant economic sector,” Boban said.

He noted that while geopolitical risks may be beyond local control, other aspects of safety – such as emergency response, firefighting, and civil protection – can be improved.

“What matters most to tourists is that with just one click, they can request help – whether from the police, fire services or mountain rescue,” he added.
