Taco Bell to Open in Croatia
Taco Bell is set to arrive in Croatia as part of a wider expansion in the region.
Taco Bell, a globally recognised fast-food brand known for its Mexican-inspired menu of tacos, burritos and quesadillas, operates thousands of restaurants in more than 30 countries worldwide.
This upcoming launch in Croatia represents its debut on the local market.
As Lider.hr reports, the expansion is backed by a €9.9 million investment from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
The funding will support Bosnian companies Aptha Global and Tastra in expanding global fast-food chains across the region—specifically KFC in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Taco Bell in Croatia, Slovenia, and beyond.
Of the total amount, €8.1 million will be provided directly by the EBRD, while €1.8 million will come from the Global Environment Facility (GEF) under the Circular Economy Regional Initiative (CERI).
The investment will help open around 30 new restaurants across the region by the end of 2027.
It also aims to create significant employment opportunities, with a strong focus on inclusion—particularly for women and persons with disabilities currently outside the workforce.
“This investment reflects our shared commitment to sustainable and inclusive growth,” said Jean-Marc Peterschmitt, EBRD Managing Director for the Corporate Sector. “We are proud to support the introduction of brands like Taco Bell and KFC into new markets.”
Aldina Hadžić, Director of Aptha Global, added: “We are thrilled that EBRD recognised Aptha as a strategic partner. With this support, we will drive both job creation and green growth, including renewable energy use and circular economy practices.”
Aptha Global and Tastra are Bosnia-based companies specialising in bringing global franchises to the region. The EBRD has invested over €3.3 billion in Bosnia and Herzegovina since 1996.
