A new digital platform dedicated to Medvednica Nature Park has been officially launched in Zagreb, with the aim of making the popular mountain more accessible while promoting its sustainable use.

The new website and mobile app were presented by Mayor Tomislav Tomašević and Zagreb Tourist Board Director Martina Bienenfeld.

The platform, available in both Croatian and English, covers the western, central and eastern parts of Medvednica.

It offers a wealth of useful content including detailed hiking trail and mountain lodge descriptions, accommodation and gastronomy options, weather and pollen forecasts, activity suggestions, interactive maps, and more — all in one place and easy to navigate.

“Medvednica is an incredible asset for Zagreb. Few cities in the world can boast a 1,000-metre mountain that’s also a nature park. That’s both an advantage and a responsibility,” said Mayor Tomašević.

“To make it more accessible and protect it for the future, we’ve developed this new app to help visitors find their way more easily around the mountain.”

The mayor also highlighted upcoming projects to enhance Sljeme and its infrastructure, including a new four-seater ski lift, an information centre at the upper station of the old cable car, a new flow trail for cyclists, and an electric bus service to the summit.

A new peak zone route will also connect key lodges and landmarks.

“With the free cable car service for all residents of Zagreb, these initiatives will help reduce traffic and preserve nature,” he added.

Martina Bienenfeld, Director of the Zagreb Tourist Board, shared her enthusiasm for the project: “Our residents often say ‘Let’s go to Sljeme’ – a natural escape where we recharge and breathe fresh air.

That’s why I’m thrilled about this new website and app, which conveniently bring together everything Medvednica has to offer – from hiking and gastronomy to activity ideas – along with practical information for a safer, more enjoyable outdoor experience.”
