On Wednesday, 23 April, the historic Ston Walls set the scene for a special culinary celebration as two top Croatian restaurants – LD in Korčula and Tavulin in Dubrovnik – were awarded MICHELIN Gold Plaques.
The prestigious plaques were presented on behalf of MICHELIN by METRO Hrvatska, a long-standing partner of the world-renowned fine dining guide.
This event places Croatia among a select group of countries, such as France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Portugal, and Austria, recognised not only with MICHELIN stars and Bib Gourmand distinctions, but also with the Gold Plaque honour.

Introduced in 2020, the MICHELIN Gold Plaque celebrates more than just exceptional cuisine. It acknowledges restaurants that excel in guest communication, visual presentation, and creating a consistently memorable dining experience – both in-person and online.

“This award confirms what we see every day through our work with hospitality professionals – that Croatian restaurateurs show extraordinary professionalism, passion, and creativity,” said Igor Kotaran, Marketing Director at METRO Hrvatska.
“The Gold Plaque symbolises excellence not only on the plate, but in the entire guest experience.”
LD and Tavulin now join last year’s plaque holders, Zrno Soli and Il Ponte, continuing to raise the bar of Croatian gastronomy.
